Matthew Cawood

Matthew Cawood is Fairfax Agricultural Media’s national beef writer and science and environment writer.

He grew up on the AACo property managed by his father at Dandaragan, WA, among 6000 head of beef cattle.

After school, he worked around Australia for several years, from stations in north-west Queensland to a prime lamb operation on Flinders Island, and points in between, before taking up journalism in Kalgoorlie.

He has since written for a range of publications in Australia and overseas, contributed to several books on photography, and covered agricultural trends around the world.

Matt lives with his family between Armidale, NSW, and a small farm on the eastern fall of New England, where he breeds a hatful of beef cattle and a lot of uninvited wallabies.
